It is well known that on finite-dimensional symplectic manifolds the Hamiltonian flows preserve the symplectic form and the natural volume form. The aim of the article under review is to study a similar problem on the phase space of a field theory, which in some situations is a Fréchet manifold of sections of a fibre bundle. In such a case a symplectic form on the space \(\Gamma (\pi)\) of sections of the symplectic fibre bundle \(\pi\) is constructed. It is shown that there is no nonzero locally finite Borel measure on \(\Gamma (\pi)\) that is preserved by the group of Hamiltonian flows on \(\Gamma(\pi)\). Some results established in standard geometric quantization [\textit{N. M. J. Woodhouse}, Geometric quantization, 2nd ed. Oxford Mathematical Monographs. Oxford: Clarendon Press (1997; Zbl 0907.58026); \textit{J. Sniatycki}, Geometric quantization and quantum mechanics, Applied Mathematical Sciences, 30. New York: Springer (1980; Zbl 0429.58007)] are applied to infinite-dimensional Frechet manifolds. The symplectic form used in the paper is the same as that used in geometric quantization of field theories [\textit{P. R. Chernoff} and \textit{J. E. Marsden}, Properties of infinite dimensional Hamiltonian systems, Lecture Notes in Mathematics 425, Berlin: Springer (1974; Zbl 0301.58016)] for the case of a trivial bundle. As a consequence of the main theorem of the paper, it is observed that the operators corresponding to quantum observables in geometric quantization in the present situation are not Hermitian.
