There is a discussion on thermally activated phenomena in micromagnetics using concepts from large deviation theory and stochastic resonance. For the Landau-Lifshitz-Gilbert model for a uniform magnet, the thin film limit is studied. Investigated are also: thermal switching for full Landau-Lifshitz-Gilbert equations, short-time switching and its connections to non-Arrhenius switching behaviour as well as deterministic effects arising for short pulses. Last sections contain some possible generalizations and open problems.
