Let \(S\) be a uniformly elliptic operator on an open domain \(\Omega\) in \(\mathbb{R}^n\), and assume \(S\) to be also uniformly sectorial, i.e., \(|\text{Im}\langle S(x)\xi,\xi\rangle|\leq c\,\text{Re}\langle S(x)\xi,\xi\rangle\). Let \(d\mu=md \lambda\) with \(m\), \(m^{-1}\) locally \(L^\infty\), \(d\lambda\) the Lebesgue measure, and let \(A_2\) be the (not necessarily self-adjoint) operator associated with the form \((a,H_\mu^1)\), \(a(u,v)=\int_\Omega\langle S(x)\nabla u,\nabla v\rangle d\mu\), \(u,v\in H_\mu^1\). Let \((\exp\{-A_2\})_{t>0}\) be the sub-Markovian semigroup generated by \(-A_2\). This semigroup extrapolates to \(L_\mu^p\), \(1<p< \infty\), where it is extended to an analytic semigroup of contractions on the sector \(\{z\in\mathbb{C}:|\arg z|<\theta_p\}\), \(\text{cot}\,\theta_p=((p-2)^2+ p^2c^2)^{1/2}/2(p-1)^{1/2}\). A corresponding result has been known for the symmetric case, but not for the general case treated in this paper.
