Invariant binary operations on [0,1] are those that remain unchanged under an increasing transformation \(\varphi\) of [0,1], that is, \[ F_\varphi(x,y)=\varphi^{-1}(F(\varphi(x),\varphi(y)) = F(x,y) \] for \(x\) and \(y\) in \([0,1]\). In this paper, the author studies invariant fuzzy implications, and derives that there are exactly 18 such operations, among them the well-known Gödel and (Gaines-) Rescher implications. He also shows that they form a distributive lattice, and examines the fulfilment of some commonly imposed properties for fuzzy implications. The author concludes by identifying from the 18 operations six important models of invariant implications, two of which had not received much prior attention. These results are helpful to gain a better insight into the structure of many-valued implication connectives.
