The author constructs a measure geometric Laplacian on a subset of \(L^2(K,\nu)\) for an atomless finite Borel measure \(\nu\) with compact support \(K\). The Laplacian is defined by taking a suitable subset of \(L^2(K,\nu)\) on which a \(\nu\)-derivative can be defined. This process is repeated for a second measure \(\mu\) with compact support \(L\subset K\). By imposing Dirichlet and Neumann boundary conditions to this Laplacian the author constructs the associated Dirichlet form and utilises the Neumann-Dirichlet bracketing technique to obtain estimates for the eigenvalue counting function derived from this Laplacian. As a final application the author is able to extend the idea of a variational fractal to more generalized Cantor-like sets and further to deduce that the associated eigenvalue counting function behaves asymptotically like \(x^{1/2}\).
