The authors continue the study of a Stieltjes integral where the measure is induced by a \(k\)-convex function and the integral is of Henstock type; see \textit{S. Bhattacharaya} and \textit{A. G. Das} [Bull. Inst. Math., Acad. Sin. 13, 385--401 (1985; Zbl 0593.26010)]; \textit{A. G. Das, M. C. Nath} and \textit{G. Sahu} [ibid. 26, No. 1, 61--75 (1998; Zbl 0933.26002)]; \textit{A. G. Das} and \textit{G. Sahu} [Bull. Calcutta Math. Soc. 92, No. 6, 433--440 (2000; Zbl 1001.26004)]; the authors [Real Anal. Exch. 29, No. 1, 59--78 (2003-2004; Zbl 1084.26004)]. In the present paper they use the integral of the last quoted paper but with an integrator that is not necessarily a \(BV_k\) function. The concept of a \(gk\)-derivative is used to present a fundamental theorem of calculus and a characterization of the integral is obtained in terms of a concept of \(k\)-variationally bounded functions. The authors follow the approach of \textit{E. Cabral} and \textit{P.-Y. Lee} [ibid. 26, No. 2, 867--876 (2001; Zbl 1024.26005)].
