    A nonnegative function \(\omega \) on \([0,l]\) is said to be almost increasing if there exists a constant \(C\geq 1\) such that \(\omega (x)\leq C\omega (y)\) for \(x\leq y.\) Let the almost increasing function \(\omega \in C[0,l]\) be such that \(\omega (0)=0,\) \(\omega (x)>0\) for \(x>0.\) It is said to be in the Zygmund-Bary-Stechkin class \(\Phi \) if it satisfies the conditions \[ \text{dint}_{0}^{h}\frac{\omega (x)}{x}\,dx\leq c\omega (h), \qquad \text{dint}_{h}^{l}\frac{\omega (x)}{x^{2}}\,dx\leq c\frac{\omega (h)}{h}, \] with \(c>0\). For \(\omega \in \Phi \) , the numbers \[ m_{\omega }=\sup_{x>1}\frac{\ln \left[ \underline{\lim }_{h\rightarrow 0} \frac{\omega (xh)}{\omega (h)}\right] }{\ln x}, \qquad M_{\omega }=\inf_{x>1}\frac{ \ln \left[ \overline{\lim }_{h\rightarrow 0}\frac{\omega (xh)}{\omega (h)} \right] }{\ln x}, \] are called lower, respectively upper index numbers of \(\omega .\) The function is called equilibrated if \(m_{\omega }=M_{\omega }\). Given two numbers \(0<\alpha \leq \beta <1,\) the author explicitly constructs examples of functions in \(\Phi \) for which \(\alpha \) and \(\beta \) serve as index numbers.
