This paper is concerned with a new type of solutions of differential inclusions in a Banach space, \( u'(t)\in F(t,u(t))\) on \(I\) where \(F : I\times E\to {\mathcal P}(E)\) is a multivalued map with compact, convex values (\({\mathcal P}(E)\) is the family of all nonempty subsets of \(E\)) and is a subinterval of \(E.\) The author assumes that \(\lambda(A)\not=0,\) where \(A:=\{u'(t): u'(t)\not\in F(t,u(t)\}\) and \(\lambda\) is a Lebesgue measure of \(A\). The new type of solutions to the above problem is called directional solutions, i.e., \(u \) is a directional solution to \(u'(t)\in F(t,u(t))\) if \[ \lim_{h\to 0}d\left(\frac{u(t+h)-u(t)}{h},\quad F(t,u(t)\right)=0 \] for all \(t\in I\). In physics, solutions are often nowhere differentiable absolutely continuous functions, see [\textit{P. G. LeFloch}, Hyperbolic systems of conservation laws. The theory of classical and nonclassical shock waves. Lectures in Mathematics, ETH Zürich. Basel: Birkhäuser Verlag (2002; Zbl 1019.35001)]. The fundamental ideas are based on the papers of [\textit{A. I. Panasyuk} and \textit{V. I. Panasyuk}, Mat. Zametki 27, No.~3, 429--437 (1980; Zbl 0443.49031) and \textit{A. I. Panasyuk}, Differ. The author also investigates local directional solutions, mean value problems, relations between Carathéodory and Marchoud solutions and existence of viability directional solutions. It is a good contribution in the field of differential inclusions.
