Coupling of FEM and BEM in shape optimization (Q2502235)

The authors consider the numerical solution of shape optimization problems of the following form: \[ J(\Omega)= \int_B j(u(x), x)\,dx\to\min,\quad -\Delta u= f\quad\text{in }\Omega,\quad u= g\quad\text{on }\Gamma. \] For this problems a coupling of finite element methods and boundary element methods is proposed to realize an efficient first-order shape optimization algorithm. Some numerical results are presented.
