The authors study some boundary value problems for Dirac-type operators \({\mathcal D}\) on particular classes of non-compact manifolds. They aim to formulate a Fredhlom theory for such operators \({\mathcal D}\) on manifolds with multicylinder end boundaries (identified with the interior of suitable campact manifolds called compact manifolds with corners), and with elliptic pseudodifferential boundary conditions. The main results are the following: (a) Proof that the Cauchy data space, \({\mathcal H}({\mathcal D})\), is Lagrangian for the self-adjoint case, and the corresponding Calderon projection is a \(b\)-pseudodifferential operator of order \(0\). \({\mathcal H}({\mathcal D})\) is some Sobolev-type kernel for \({\mathcal D}\) identifying boundary conditions. (b) Fredholmeness and relative index formulae. (c) Proof of the Bojarski conjecture. Remark. The problems considered in this paper can be recasted in the geometric theory of PDE's, by considering suitable weak integral bordism groups, for suitable integral singular chain complexes. (See recent works by the reviewer of this paper. Compare also with the approach by means of the Boutet de Mouvel's algebra.)
