The book is devoted to the theory of electronic states in crystals that have finite size. Mathematically, this reduces to spectral theory of Schrödinger operator with truncated periodic potential. The author provides basics of such theory in dimensions 1, 2 and 3. He also considers certain applications. The book might be interesting to both physicists and mathematicians.
