Let \((R, {\mathfrak m})\) be a regular local ring of dimension two containing the field of complex numbers. In this paper the author studies complete ideals, i.e. primary integrally closed ideals. Following Noh two complete ideals \(J\subset I\) are adjacents if lg\((I/J)=1\). The aim of the paper under review is to answer some question posed by \textit{S. Noh} [J. Pure Appl. Algebra 85, No. 2, 163--184 (1993; Zbl 0782.13002)], for example: 1) How many adjacent ideals \(I\supset {\mathfrak m}^n J\) with order \(o(I)=(o({\mathfrak m}^n J))-1\) exist? 2) How many adjacent ideals \(I\supset {\mathfrak m} J^n\) with order \(o(I)=(o({\mathfrak m} J^n))-1\) exist? In both cases the author shows that there are infinitely many ideals \(I\). 3) For any complete ideal \(I\) let \(T(I)\) be the set of Rees valuations of \(I\). It is possible to have adjacent ideals \(J=J_1^{s_1 }J_2^{s_2 }\subset I\) with \(T(J)\cap T(I)=\emptyset \), and \(s_1>0, s_2>0\)? The author gives an example to prove that this is possible. The proofs are rather technical and uses strongly the notion of clusters.
