The very interesting paper under review deals with the following nonlinear singular elliptic equation \[ -\text{div\,}(|x|^{-2a}\nabla u)=K(x)|x|^{-bp}|u|^{p-2}u+\lambda g(x)\quad \text{in }{\mathbb R}^N, \] where \(g(x)\) belongs to an appropriate weighted Sobolev space and \(p\) stands for the Caffarelli-Kohn-Nirenberg critical exponent associated to \(a,\) \(b\) and \(N\). Under some natural assumptions on the potential \(K(x)>0\), the authors establish the existence of a \(\lambda_0>0\) with the property that the above equation admits at least two distinct solutions provided \(\lambda\in(0,\lambda_0)\). The main analytic tools rely on the Ekeland variational principle and the mountain pass theorem without the Palais-Smale condition, combined with a weighted variant of the Brézis-Lieb lemma.
