In \textit{C. Ferreira} and \textit{J. López} [J. Approximation Theory 111, No. 2, 298--314 (2001; Zbl 0983.41020)] an asymptotic expansion was given for the logarithm of Barnes double gamma function \(G\), which is an entire function satisfying \(G(1)=1\) and \(G(z+1)=\Gamma(z)G(z)\). In that paper the remainder \(R_N(z)\) of the asymptotic expansion was given and estimates for \(|R_N(z)|\) were also found. In the paper under review the author shows that the function \((-1)^NR_N(x)\) is completely monotone for any \(N\geq 1\). Finally, the author mentions another asymptotic expansion for the logarithm of Barnes double gamma function due to Ruijsenaars. This expansion is given in \textit{S. N. M. Ruijsenaars} [Adv. Math. 156, No. 1, 107--132 (2000; Zbl 0966.33013)]. Although computer experiments suggest that the remainder in that case also has a complete monotonicity property, he was not able to prove this.
