The author considers a nonlinear system of two differential equations with delay which describes the dynamics of blood cell production that takes place in the bone marrow. Then, the global asymptotic stability of the trivial steady state, local asymptotic stability of the positive steady state and the existence of Hopf bifurcation are proved. To illustrate the result in this paper, several examples of numerical simulations are given. Moreover, the mathematical results are applied to illustrate some biological phenomena.
