Results for Artinian modules have very often been proven in analogy to results for noetherian rings, and the results of this paper are no exception. It has been proven by \textit{P. Jothilingam} [Commun. Algebra 28, 4861--4866 (2000; Zbl 0967.13012)] that a finitely generated module \(M\) over a commutative ring \(R\) is noetherian if the submodule \(PM\) is finitely generated for every prime ideal \(P\) of \(R\). The corresponding theorem for Artinian modules reads: A finitely embedded module \(M\) over a commutative ring \(R\) is Artinian if the factor module \(M/(O:_{M}P)\) is finitely embedded for every prime idedal \(P\) of \(R\). Proving this theorem is the objective of this note and it is done by a series of propositions and lemmas involving Loewy modules and the use of Zorn's Lemma.
