It was shown by \textit{K. H. Kwon, L. L. Littlejohn} and \textit{B. H. Yoo} [Indag. Math., New Ser. 7, No. 2, 199--213 (1996; Zbl 0861.33006)] that classical orthogonal polynomials can be characterized by a certain linear \(2k\)-order differential equation which generalizes the well-known two-order Bochner equation for some \(k\geq1\). The authors of the present paper find the explicit expression of that generalized Bochner equation.
