Let \(X\) be a Banach space and let \(A : D(A) \subset X \to X\) be a linear operator on \(X\) with non empty resolvent set, e.g. \(0 \in \rho(A)\). A pair \(\{X_{-1},J\}\) is an extrapolation couple with respect to \(A\) if \((X_{-1}, \|\cdot\|_{-1})\) is a Banach space and \(J:X \to X_{-1}\) is linear isometric, i.e., \[ \|Jx\|_{-1} = \|A^{-1}x\|, \quad \forall x \in X, \] and has dense range. The authors present a new approach for extrapolation spaces for unbounded linear operators and apply it to evolution equations. They deduce certain existence properties of their solutions.
