In this paper the authors study \(k\)-starlike functions, \(0\leq k<\infty,\) i.e., functions that are analytic, univalent and satisfy \[ Re\left\{\frac{\zeta}{z} +\frac{(z-\zeta)f'(z)}{f(z)}\right\}\geq0, \] for all \(z\) in the unit disk and \(| \zeta| \leq k.\) They give a characterization using their coefficients, prove distortion inequalities and obtain a sharp sufficient condition when the Hadamard product of two \(k\)-starlike functions is also \(k\)-starlike.
