A new iterative method for solving nonlinear equations (Q2507835)

This paper is concerned with a new iterative method for solving nonlinear equations \(f(x)=0\). This method is based on a modification of the proposal of \textit{S. Abbasbandy } [ibid. 145, 887--893 (2003; Zbl 1032.65048)] on improving the order of accuracy of the Newton-Raphson method. The method converges with fourth-order and does not require the computation of second derivatives. The convergence properties of the method and some other methods are discussed. Some example are tested showing equal or better performance than the other methods of the same kind.
