The author proves that the symmetry operators on the Hilbert space of states of the quantum version of trigonometric integrable two-dimensional statistical face models define a weak *-Hopf algebras isomorphic to the Ocneanu double triangle algebra [\textit{A. Ocneanu}, Paths on Coxeter diagrams: from Platonic solids and singularities to minimal models and subfactors, Rajarama Blat et al. (eds.), (Notes taken by S. Goto), Fields Institute Monographs, AMS,1999 (2000; Zbl 0952.46036)]. This is related to results about correspondence between rational conformal field theories of SU(2)-type and ADE graphs by \textit{J. B. Zuber} [CFT, ADE and all that, Contemp. Math. 294, 338--353 (2000)] and double triangle algebra associated to an ADE graph by the author of the paper under review and \textit{R. Coquereaux} [Adv. Theor. Math. Phys., 8, 189-216 (2004; Zbl 1082.81045]. The general context of investigations, motivations, fundamental results and conceptions are presented in papers by [\textit{J. S. Birman}, The work of Vaughan F.R. Jones. Proc. Int. Congr. Math., Kyoto/Japan 1990, Vol. I, 9--18 (1991; Zbl 0743.01023)], by \textit{V. F.R. Jones} [ibid. 121--138 (1991; Zbl 0781.46046)], by [\textit{Yu. I. Manin}, Proc. Int. Congr. Math., Kyoto/Japan 1990, Vol. I, 3--7 (1991; Zbl 0741.01025)] and by [\textit{V. Drinfel'd}, Quantum groups, Proc. Int. Congr. Math., Berkeley/Calif. 1986, Vol. 1, 798--820 (1987; Zbl 0667.16003)]. Table of Contents of the paper under review: 1. Introduction; 2. Face models: a brief survey; 3. Symmetries of the trigonometric face models; 4. Consistency equations; 5. The relation with Ocneanu cell calculus; 6. The relation with the double triangle weak Hopf algebra. Two appendices contain some definitions from graph theory, supplementary propositions and the value of connections for \(A_{n}\)-graphs.
