By a well-known result of Bishop, Narasimhan and Remmert every \(n\)-dimensional Stein manifold can be embedded as a closed submanifold of \(\mathbb{C}^{2n+1}\). This gives way to many applications since holomorphic functions on the submanifold can be holomorphically extended to \(\mathbb{C}^{2n+1}\). The paper under consideration deals with an analogous problem on Banach spaces. We recall that a Schauder basis of a Banach space \(X\), \(\{e_n\}_{n\in\mathbb{N}}\), is called unconditional if and only if for any convergent series \(\sum^\infty_{n=1} \lambda_n e_n\), with \(\lambda_n\in\mathbb{C}\), the series \(\sum^\infty_{n=1} \lambda_n \theta_n e_n\) converges, where \(\theta_n=\pm 1\). Now Lempert has shown that any pseudoconvex domain \(\Omega\) of a Banach space \(X\) admitting an unconditional Schauder basis is biholomorphically equivalent to a closed submanifold of a separable Banach space \(Y\). The author proves that \(Y\) can be supposed to admit an unconditional Schauder basis. Furthermore, if \(1< p< \infty\) and \(X\) is a separable \(L^p\) space, then \(Y\) can also be taken as a separable \(L^p\) space.
