The authors study isolated singularities of complex polynomial functions. The cohomology of the Milnor fiber is equipped with a mixed Hodge structure. The weight filtration depends on the monodromy of the singularity. Under some nondegeneracy conditions it is shown how to read the number and sizes of Jordan blocks of the monodromy from the Newton diagram of the polynomial. Moreover, the number of Jordan blocks of a given size can be expressed by the coefficients of the Hodge polynomials of the Milnor fibre. It follows that the number of Jordan blocks of a given size depends only on the motive of the Milnor fiber in the K-theory of Hodge structures. The formulas are parallel to the authors' results [Math. Z. 268, No. 1--2, 409--439 (2011; Zbl 1264.14005)] obtained for the monodromy at infinity.
