The authors use structure theorems for generalized functions and the heat kernel method initiated by \textit{T. Matsuzawa} [Trans. Am. Math. Soc. 313, No. 2, 619--654 (1989; Zbl 0681.46042)] for considering the stability problem for the sine addition formula in the spaces of Schwartz distributions and Gelfand hyperfunctions with respect to bounded distributions and bounded hyperfunctions. As a consequence of their results, they prove the \(L^\infty\)-version of the stability for the sine functional equation \(\|f(x+y)-f(x)g(y)-g(x)f(y)\|_{L^\infty(\mathbb{R}^{2n})} \leq C\), where \(f, g : \mathbb{R}^n \to \mathbb{C}\) are Lebesgue measurable functions satisfying the following growth condition: for every \(\varepsilon> 0\) there exists \(C_\varepsilon > 0\) such that \(|f(x)| \leq C_\varepsilon e^{\varepsilon |x|^2}\).
