In this nice, important and useful paper the authors consider a general problem of existence (and uniqueness) of absolutely minimal Lipschitz (and other) extensions. Such problems are useful for example in functional analysis and applications (e.g., for differential equations). Some interesting results on ``quasi'' absolutely minimal Lipschitz extensions -- generalizing results proved by Aronsson for scalar valued functions -- are extended to a much more general class of functions (for metric spaces, Hilbert spaces, Hölder mappings,\dots). There are also some propositions of further investigations in this field and open questions to be solved.
