Let \(X\) be a nonempty set. A function \(\omega:(0,\infty)\times X\times X\to[0,\infty]\) is a modular metric if it satisfies the following: (1) \(x=y\) if and only if \(\omega(\lambda,x,y)=0\) for all \(\lambda>0\); (2) \(\omega(\lambda,x,y)=\omega(\lambda,y,x)\) for all \(x,\in X\) and \(\lambda>0\); (3) \(\omega(\lambda+\mu,x,y)\leq\omega(\lambda,x,y)+\omega(\mu,x,y)\) for all \(x,y\in X\) and \(\lambda,\mu>0\). For \(x_0\in X\) and a given modular metric \(\omega\), define \(X_\omega=X_\omega(x_0):=\{x\in X:\lim_{\lambda\to\infty}\omega(\lambda,x,x_0)=0\}\). A mapping \(T:C\to C\), where \(C\subset X_\omega\), is called \(\omega\)-nonexpansive if \(\omega(1,Tx,Ty)\leq\omega(1,x,y)\) for all \(x,y\in C\). The purpose of this paper is to present a fixed point theorem for \(\omega\)-nonexpansive mappings. The authors also discuss some compactness properties of a family of certain subsets of \(X_\omega\).
