Let \(A\in\mathbb{H}^{n\times n}\), where \(\mathbb{H}\) is the skew field of quaternions. Let \(L_1\) be a subspace of~\(\mathbb{H}^n\), and denote by \(P_{L_1}\) and~\(P_{L_1^\perp}\) the orthogonal projectors on~\(L_1\) and~\(L_1^\perp\), respectively. Assuming that \(AP_{L_1}+P_{L_1^\perp}\) is invertible, define the R-Bott-Duffin inverse of~\(A\) with respect to~\(L_1\) by \[ A_{r_{(L_1)}}^{(-1)}=P_{L_1}(AP_{L_1}+P_{L_1^\perp})^{-1}. \] Similarly, define the L-Bott-Duffin inverse of~\(A\) with respect to~\(L_2\) by \[ A_{l_{(L_2)}}^{(-1)}=(Q_{L_2}A+Q_{L_2^\perp})^{-1}Q_{L_2}, \] where \(L_2\) is a subspace of~\(\mathbb{H}^{1\times n}\), and \(Q_{L_2}\) and~\(Q_{L_2^\perp}\) are orthogonal projectors. The main points of the paper use row and column determinants, defined by \textit{I. I. Kyrchei} [J. Math. Sci., New York 155, No. 6, 839--858 (2008); translation from Fundam. Prikl. Mat. 13, No. 4, 67--94 (2007; Zbl 1157.15308)]. Determinantal representations of these inverses are so established, and certain restricted linear quaternion equations are solved by Cramer's rule.
