Legendre Galerkin method for weakly singular Fredholm integral equations and the corresponding eigenvalue problem (Q2511389)

The authors consider a Galerkin method for weakly singular Fredholm integral equations of the second kind and its corresponding eigenvalue problem using Legendre polynomial basis functions of degree \(\leq n\). They obtain the convergence rates for the approximated solutions and the iterated solutions of weakly singular Fredholm integral equations of the second kind and also the error bounds for the approximated eigen elements in the corresponding eigenvalue problem. Numerical examples illustrate the efficiency of the considered numerical method.
