Let \(X\) be a Calabi--Yau manifold, that is, here, a projective manifold with trivial canonical bundle and \(H^1(X, \mathcal O_X)=0\). The Cone conjecture of Morrison and Kawamata predicts that there are rational polyhedral fundamental domains for the actions of \(\mathrm{Aut} (X)\), the group of automorphisms of \(X\), on the cone \(\mathrm{Nef} (X)\cap \mathrm{Eff} (X)\) on the one hand, and of \(\mathrm{Bir} (X)\), the group of birational automorphisms, on \(\overline{\mathrm{Mov}}(X)\cap \mathrm{Eff}(X)\) on the other hand. The conjecture is known in a handful of cases. This article studies in detail the case of Calabi--Yau manifolds of Picard rank \(2\). The authors calculate explicitly the groups \(\mathcal A(X)= r(\mathrm{Aut}(X))\) and \(\mathcal B(X)= r(\mathrm{Bir}(X))\), where \(r\) is the natural homomorphism \[ r : \mathrm{Bir}(X) \to \mathrm{GL}({\mathrm N^1(X)}), \] for \(\mathrm{N}^1(X)\) the Neron-Severi group of \(X\). It is known that \(\mathrm{Aut}(X)\) (resp.~\(\mathrm{Bir}(X)\)) is finite if and only if \(\mathcal A(X)\) (resp.~\(\mathcal B(X)\)) is. The authors then show that (1) if \(\mathrm{Aut}(X)\) (resp.~\(\mathrm{Bir}(X)\)) is finite, then a weak version of the Cone conjecture holds for \(\mathrm{Nef}(X)\) (resp.~\(\overline{\mathrm{Mov}}(X)\)); (2) if \(\mathrm{Aut}(X)\) (resp.~\(\mathrm{Bir}(X)\)) is infinite, then the Cone conjecture holds for \(\mathrm{Nef}(X)\) (resp.~\(\overline{\mathrm{Mov}}(X)\)). The authors also give examples of Calabi-Yau manifolds with Picard rank \(2\) and infinite group of birational automorphisms; these generalise the example of Calabi-Yau \(3\)-fold constructed in [\textit{K. Oguiso}, J. Algebr. Geom. 23, No. 4, 775--795 (2014; Zbl 1304.14051)].
