Let \((M,g)\) be a compact Riemannian manifold and let \(P\) be a first order pseudo-differential operator on \(M\) which is elliptic, selfadjoint, and positive. Let \(\{\lambda_j,f_j\}\) be a complete spectral resolution. For example, one could let \(P=\sqrt{\Delta}\) be the square root of the Laplacian. The author uses the Zelditch random wave model to study the quasi-modes. The exponential moment method is used to show that the random waves have the quantum unique ergodicity property with probability one once some mild growth assumptions are imposed. \S1 presents an introduction to the matter at hand, \S2 discusses the assumptions to be imposed, \S3 treats a combinatorial reduction, \S4 gives an explicit formula for the Haar unitary matrices, and \S5 treats quantum ergodicity via decorrelation.
