Let \(k\) be a field and \(R=k[x]\) a polynomial ring over \(k\) with one variable \(x\). Suppose that \(A=R[y;\sigma,\delta]\) is an Ore extension of \(R\). It is shown that \(A\) is isomorphic to one of the follwing: (i) a quantum plane, (ii) quantum Weyl algebra, (ii) an algebra \(A_h\) with two generators \(x,y\) subject to defining relation \([x,y]=h\in k[x]\). The last class of algebras is obtained from \(R\) in the case when \(\sigma\) is identical and \(\delta(y)=h\). The main result of the paper is a classification of derivations of \(A_h\) and a Lie structure of \(HH^1(A_h)=\mathrm{Der}(A_h)/\mathrm{Inder}(A_h)\). In characteristic zero it is shown that the Lie algebra \(HH^1(A_h)\) has a unique maximal nilpotent ideal. Modulo this ideal \(HH^1(A_h)\) is a direct sum of simple Lie algebras. Each of these summands is a field extension of one-variable Witt algebra. Some results are obtained for \(\mathrm{Der}(A_h)\) and for \(HH^1(A_h)\) in positive characteristic. Note that in the special case \(h=x\) similar results were obtained by \textit{R. Sridharan} [Trans. Am. Math. Soc. 100, 530-550 (1961; Zbl 0099.02301)] and in the case \(h=x^2\) by \textit{E. N. Shirikov} [J. Math. Sci., New York 154, No. 2, 270-278 (2008); translation from Fundam. Prikl. Mat. 13, No. 2, 217-230 (2007; Zbl 1167.16036)].
