The paper considers the Kuramoto model of globally coupled phase oscillators. For this model, several analytical results are obtained. Firstly, sufficient conditions for the stability of phase synchronized and desynchronized solutions are obtained. Further, conditions for the existence of chimera states are given. As a chimera state the authors call the state of a coupled system, where some oscillators are phase synchronized and some are not. In the literature, such solutions are called recently ``weak chimeras'' [\textit{P. Ashwin} and \textit{O. Burylko}, ``Weak chimeras in minimal networks of coupled phase oscillators'', Chaos 25, No. 1, Article ID 013106 (2015; \url{doi:10.1063/1.4905197})].
