Let \(R\) be an associative ring and \(*_1\colon R\times R\to R\). For an integer \(n>1\) define \(*_n(x,y)=*_1(*_{n-1}(x,y),y)\). The authors here consider two binary operators: \([x,y]=xy-yx\) and \(x\circ y=xy+yx\). Let \(R\) be a noncommutative prime ring with \(\text{char\,}R\neq 2\), extended centroid \(C\), and generalized derivation \(G\). For a fixed integer \(k>0\) the authors show that \(G(r)=cr\) for some \(c\in C\) and all \(r\in R\) if any of the following are identities for \(R\): \(G([x,y]_k\circ [x,y]_k)\); \(G([x,y]_k)\circ G([z,t]_k)-[x,y]_k\circ [z,t]_k\); \(G([x,y])\circ_k G([z,t])-[x,y]\circ_k [z,t]\). Also if \(G(u)\circ_kG(v)-u\circ_kv\) is an identity for a Lie ideal \(L\) of \(R\), then \(L\) must be in the center of \(R\), and finally, \(G([x,y])\circ_k G([z,t])\) cannot be an identity for \(R\).
