Minimizing coincidence in positive codimension (Q2518061)

This paper is a continuation of [Topology Appl. 155, No.~17--18, 2001--2008 (2008; Zbl 1154.55001)], considering the coincidence points of two maps between smooth manifolds \(M\) and \(N\). Under suitable assumptions on the maps, the coincidence point set is a smooth manifold with dimension \(\dim M - \dim N\). The author obtains in this paper a new sufficient condition to remove a component of the coincidence point set, and hence improves the result from [loc. cit.].
