The article is concerned with the anti-periodic boundary value problem \[ x''+f(t,x)=0,\;\;0\leq t\leq T, \;\; x(0)+x(T)=0,\;\;x'(0)+x'(T)=0,\eqno(1) \] where \(f(t,x)\) is continuous in \((t,x)\). One of the results is the existence of at least one solution to (1) when for some \(\lambda>0\) we have \(| f(t,x)+\lambda x| \leq p(t)\psi (| x| )\) and \(\psi (| u| )/u\) stays below a certain constant for large \(| u| \). The author uses Green's functions estimates and the continuation method in the proof. Another result gives the existence and localization of a solution to (1) between a pair of ordered lower and upper solutions. The lower and upper solutions \(u\leq v\) are coupled in the sense that in addition to the usual differential inequalities they satisfy \(u(0)+v(T)=0,\;\;u'(0)+v'(T)\geq0\), \(v(0)+u(T)=0,\;\;v'(0)+u'(T)\leq0\).
