The initial-boundary value problems for a class of nonlinear wave equations with damping term (Q2518270)

Using the Galerkin method the authors prove existence of the unique global classical and generalized solutions to the initial-boundary value problem for the equation \(u_{tt}-2bu_{xxt}+au_{xxxx}=f(u_{x})_{x}\) on \((0,+\infty)\times (0,1).\) The exponential energy decay for \(t\rightarrow +\infty \) is proved under the additional assumptions on \(f.\) They also give sufficient conditions for the blow-up of the solutions.
