Let \(G\) be a finite group. \(g\in G\) is called a vanishing element if \(\chi(g)=0\) for some irreducible character of \(G\). The main result of the paper under review is that if \(p\) is a prime and \(G\) does not have any vanishing element of \(p\)-power order, then \(G\) has a normal Sylow \(p\)-subgroup. It is also shown that this result is a generalization of the Ito-Michler Theorem which states that if no irreducible character degree is divisible by the prime \(p\), then \(G\) has a normal Sylow \(p\)-subgroup. The proof depends on CFSG. It is also mentioned that for solvable \(G\) and odd \(p\) the main result of the paper follows from the results of \textit{I. M. Isaacs, G. Navarro} and \textit{T. R. Wolf} [J. Algebra 222, No. 2, 413-423 (1999; Zbl 0959.20009)].
