The iteration method \(x_{n+1}=\alpha_n f(x_n) + \beta_n x_n + \gamma_n T^nx_n\) is discussed for approximating a special fixed point of an asymptotically nonexpansive mapping \(T\) defined on a uniformly convex Banach space with uniformly Gâteaux differentiable norm. Here \(f\) is a contractive mapping and \(\alpha_n, ~\beta_n, ~\gamma_n\) are real numbers satisfying certain conditions. It is shown that this fixed point of \(T\) is a unique solution of a variational inequality. It would be helpful if the authors used some examples to illustrate the method and discuss complexity and computational effort involved in the proposed iterative method.
