The paper under review is devoted to the study of some radicals in the group theory. If the role of radicals in the ring theory is well-known, then it is less obvious in the group theory. Although some radicals (for instance the Plotkin-Hirsch radical) were introduced long time ago, the approach in this domain remains unduly integrated and so poorly applicable. In the present paper, the author studies in detail the radicals \(RN\) and \(RN^*\) and the weakly solvable radical for a number of basic classical groups over rings. The research given in the paper concerns these radicals in the following cases: (1) For the subgroups of multiplicative groups of algebras with polynomial identities. (2) For the subgroups of a linear group over an associative algebra normalized by its elementary subgroup. (3) For the subgroups of a linear group over an associative algebra normalized by elementary Chevalley groups (these can be defined over any associative ring though this does not have as effective consequences as in the commutative case). (4) For the subgroups of a unitary group over an algebra with involution normalized by its elementary subgroup. -- The results obtained in the paper are rich and with clear proofs.
