All groups in this review are Abelian. Let \(\mathcal T\) be a topological group. A discrete group \(G\) is called slender with respect to \(\mathcal T\) if and only if every homomorphism from \(\mathcal T\) to \(G\) is continuous. For instance, if \(\mathcal T\) is a countable direct product of infinite cyclic groups topologized by the supremum of the Tychonoff topology and the \(\mathbb{Z}\)-adic topology, then a group that is slender with respect to \(\mathcal T\) is a generalized slender group. Let \(\mathcal T\) be a countable direct product of discrete infinite cyclic groups. The current paper studies three classes of groups that are slender with respect to \(\mathcal T\) using three different topologies on \(\mathcal T\). The topologies are the supremum of the Tychonoff topology and the (a) \(\mathcal P\)-topology (b) Prüfer topology (c) \(\mathbf f\)-topology. The classes for these groups are denoted \(\mathcal L_{\mathcal P}\), \(\mathcal L_{\mathbf{Pr}}\), and \(\mathcal L_{\mathbf f}\), respectively. The author offers two characterizations for each of the three types of groups studied with results along the lines of: Proposition 2: A group \(G\) is in \(\mathcal L_{\mathbf{Pr}}\) if and only if the image of \(\mathbf L\) is a direct sum of a free group of finite rank and a finitely cogenerated group for every homomorphism \(\mathbf L\to G\). Here \(\mathbf L\) is a countable direct product of infinite cyclic groups. In Chapter 2 the author establishes that \(\mathcal L_{\mathcal P}\) is closed with respect to direct sums and that \(\mathcal L_{\mathbf{Pr}}\) and \(\mathcal L_{\mathbf f}\) are closed with respect to extensions. Conditions are given for when \(\mathcal L_{\mathcal P}\) is closed with respect to extensions.
