In the first part of the paper, the author recalls some results regarding the hyperplanes in the space of complex valued functions of \(n\) real variables. In the second part, the above results are extended to arbitrary subsets of the real \(n\)-dimensional space. Following the mentioned ideas, the author gives a new definition of a multidimensional spline which implies the existence of an optimal extension and the task is to compute the latter. An example for the space of complex valued functions of two real variables is presented.
