    In this article the authors consider the following problem: \[ \begin{cases} -\Delta_pu+a(x)|u|^{p-2}u = f(x)|u|^{\alpha-1} u\;\;\text{in} \;\mathbb{R}^N, \\ u>0, \;\;\lim_{|x|\to+\infty} u(x) = 0, \end{cases} \tag{P} \] where \(N\geqslant 2\), \(1<p<N\) and \(0<\alpha<p^\ast-1\), \(p^\ast:=Np/(N-p)\). It is assumed that \(a:\mathbb{R}^N\to\mathbb{R}\) is a continuous function such that \(a(x)\geqslant a_0>0\) in \(\mathbb{R}^N\) and \(a(x)\to+\infty\) as \(|x|\to+\infty\). Moreover, it is supposed that the function \(f:\mathbb{R}^N\to\mathbb{R}\) is nonnegative and \(f\in L^{\omega}(\mathbb{R}^N)\cap L^{\omega/(1-\delta)}(\mathbb{R}^N) \) with \(\omega=p^\ast/(p^\ast-\alpha-1)\) and \(\delta\in(0,1)\). The authors introduce the following functional space \[ E=\bigg\{u\in W^{1,p}(\mathbb{R}^N): \int\limits_{\mathbb{R}^N} (|\nabla u|^p+a|u|^p)dx<\infty\bigg\} \] endowed with the norm \[ \|u\|_E=\bigg(\,\int\limits_{\mathbb{R}^N}(|\nabla u|^p+a|u|^p)dx \bigg)^{1/p}. \] A function \(u\in E\) is called a weak solution of problem (P) if for every \(\varphi\in E\), \[ \int_{\mathbb{R}^N} |\nabla u|^{p-2}\nabla u\nabla\varphi dx + \int_{\mathbb{R}^N} a|u|^{p-2} u\varphi dx = \int_{\mathbb{R}^N} f|u|^{\alpha-1} u\varphi dx. \] The main results of the article are as follows. \textbf{Theorem 1.} Problem (P) has at least one nontrivial weak solution \(u\in E\). \textbf{Theorem 2.} Let \(u\) be a weak solution of problem (P). Then \(u\in L^{\sigma}(\mathbb{R}^N)\) with \(\sigma\in[p^\ast,+\infty]\). Moreover, \(u>0\) in \(\mathbb{R}^N\) and \(u\) decays uniformly as \(|x|\to+\infty\).
