Weighted approximation of functions with singularities by Bernstein operators (Q2519448)

In order to approximate functions with singularities, \textit{B. Della Vecchia, G. Mastroianni} and \textit{J. Szabados} [Acta Math. Hung. 103, No.~1--2, 19--41(2004; Zbl 1062.41016)] introduced a sequence of modified Bernstein operators. In the present article the authors extend some results from the above mentioned paper. They obtain pointwise and global estimates concerning the weighted approximation of functions with singularities by the corresponding operators.
