Let \(\{T(t)\mid t \geq 0\}\) be a uniformly bounded semigroup of operators on a (real) Banach space \(X\) with infinitesimal generator \(A\), such that all orbits \(\{T(t)x \mid t\geq 0\}\), \(x\in X\), have weakly compact closure in \(X\). If \(\mu \) is any continuous functional on the space \(C_{b}([0,+\infty [)\) of bounded continuous functions on \([0,+\infty [\), then there exists a bounded operator \(A_{\mu }\) on \(X\) such that \(\langle x^{*} , A_{\mu }x\rangle=\mu(\langle x^{*}, T(.)x\rangle)\) for any \(x\in X\) and \(x^{*}\in X^{*}\). The following question is studied in this paper: if \((\mu _{\alpha})\) is a net of functionals on \(C_{b}([0,+\infty [)\) and \((A_{\alpha})\) is the associated net of operators on \(X\), what are the relations between the convergence of the net \((\mu _{\alpha})\) and the convergence of the net \((A_{\alpha})\) in \(\mathcal{B}(X)\)? Ergodic theorems for \((A_{\alpha})\) are given, as well as convergence rates.
