A nonperiodic spline analog of the Akhiezer-Krein-Favard operators (Q2520410)

In this paper, spaces of splines that are non-periodic and of order \(m\) are studied as well as the error of the approximation using them. The approximates \(f\) are from \(L^p\) spaces on the reals, and the best approximation and the error of the best approximation (in the paper the latter has the same name as the former) are analysed. It is shown that the known asymptotic error can be obtained by \textit{linear} approximates, and these are explicitly constructed in the article.
