On this excellent well-written paper the authors study Schubert determinantal ideals (symmetric Schubert determinantal ideals and upper triangular Schubert determinantal ideals), which are ideals that depend of minors of generic matrices (symmetric matrices and upper triangular matrices) with some rank conditions. These ideals are the defining ideals of matrix Schubert varieties. In section 2 and 3 authors define and give properties of these ideals and varieties. In section 4 and 5 authors give applications to Gaussian conditional independence models.
