The author proves that if \(L\) is a lattice group \((g_n)\) a sequence of positive elements of \(L\) and \(\Phi\) an order-preserving homomorphism of \(L\) into the real numbers such that the set \(\{\Phi(g_1\vee\cdots\vee g_p): p=1, 2,\ldots\}\) is bounded above and \(\limsup \Phi(g_p) > 0\), then there is a subsequence \((g_{r(n)})\) of \((g_n)\) such that \(\Phi(g_{r(1)}\wedge\cdots\wedge g_{r(s)})> 0\) \((s = 1, 2, \ldots)\). Easy deductions produce as corollaries Pták's theorem an convex means [\textit{V. Pták}, Czech. Math. J. 9(84), 629--630 (1959; Zbl 0093.05601)], a related result of \textit{I. Namioka} [Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 12, 713--716 (1961; Zbl 0100.10905)], Lebesgue's dominated convergence theorem, and a theorem of Banach giving criteria for weak convergence in the Banach space of bounded real-valued functions on an abstract set [\textit{S. Banach}, Théorie des opérations linéaires. Warszawa: Inst. Mat. PAN (1932; Zbl 0005.20901)].
