\textit{H. Whitney} [Ann. Math. (2) 81, 496--549 (1965; Zbl 0152.27701)] studied the structure of the sets of tangent vectors and tangent planes to a complex analytic variety, particularly in the neighborhood of singular points of the variety and proved the existence of a stratification of the variety which has nice properties relative to tangent planes. He induced a-regularity and b-regularity in the proof with respect to existence of the stratification of the variety. In this paper we study the relation between the a-regularity and the b-regularity of a complex analytic variety over a manifold, particularly in the neighborhood of singular point of the variety. For this purpose we introduce the d-regularity of a complex analytic variety over a manifold and prove that the a-regularity and the d-regularity are equivalent to the b-regularity. Further we show that for varieties \(V\), \(W\) and an open set \(>H\) in \(\mathbb C^n\) such that \(W\subset V\subset H\subset \mathbb C^n\), \(\dim W = m\), \(\dim V = r>m\), there is a subvariety \(S_d\) of \(W\) of dimension \(< m\) such that \(V\) is d-regular over \(W_{sp} - S_d\).
