This is a continuation of Part I [ibid. 36, 457--483 (1971; Zbl 0195.04502)]. An algebra \(E\) is said to have a polynomial part if \(E\) has an idempotent \(e\) such that \(eEe\) satisfies a polynomial identity. The main result proved here is: Theorem. Let \(K[G]\) be a semiprime group ring. Then \(K[G]\) has a polynomial part if and only if \([G : \Delta(G)] < \infty\) and \(\vert\Delta(G)' \vert < \infty\). Now let \(G\) be an arbitrary group and let \(S(G)\) be the subgroup of \(G\) generated by all normal solvable subgroups of \(G\). It follows easily that \(S(G)\) is a characteristic locally solvable subgroup of \(G\). The following result is announced. Theorem. Let \(K[G]\) satisfy a polynomial identity of degree \(n\). Then \([G : S(G)]\) is bounded by some finite valued function of \(n\).
