All solutions of the Diophantine equation \[ (a^2-r^2)(a^2-4r^2)=(a^2-R^2)(a^2-4R^2) \] have been found by means of identities involving three independent parameters: The equation is connected with \textit{Ya. Gabovich}'s problem [Colloq. Math. 15, 45--48 (1966; Zbl 0144.03805)]: to find two arithmetic progressions \(a_1,\ldots,a_n\) and \(b_1,\ldots,b_n\), \(n>4\) such that \(a_1\cdots a_n=b_1\cdots b_n\). A. Makowski informs me that M. Mirkowska has found one numerical solution for \(n=5\) and A. Makowski has given one solution for each \(n\) by means of the identity \(\prod_{k=1}^n(n+k)=\prod_{k=1}^n (4k-2)\) [Colloq. Math. 19, 179--180 (1968), Problems 543 and 545; \url{http://pldml.icm.edu.pl/pldml/element/bwmeta1.element.bwnjournal-article-cmv19i1n26/c/cm19126.pdf}].
